Ft. Detrick, MD
Overview: Abatement, demolition, and site restoration of five structures at Fort Detrick in support of the United States Army Corps of Engineers ‐ Huntsville Division. This project award, serving the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) - Huntsville Division. Northeast Region U.S. Facilities Reduction Program (FRP), included the abatement, utility disconnection, demolition and site restoration of five structures; a modestly sized modular office building, a concrete holding tank, two very large fuel tanks and a 16,000 square foot, multi-level boiler house. We provided all labor, supplies and services necessary to complete this Northeast Region demolition task order at Fort Detrick, MD.
We are pleased to serve the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on key remediation projects. Reporting to the Huntsville Division in cooperation with the Northeast Region U.S. Facilities Reduction Program, we provided all labor, supplies and services, plus essential expertise in abatement, demolition, and project management, returning the site to useable space.
Throughout its history, Fort Detrick has contributed scientific breakthroughs and medical
solutions for the Armed Forces and the nation.
The history of the post actually began in 1931 when the Frederick airport was renamed
Detrick Field and designated a part of the Maryland National Guard.
The field was named in honor of Frederick Louis Detrick, a Frederick County native who
served as a U.S. Army flight surgeon during World War I in Belgium.
After the war, he joined the Maryland National Guard's 29th Division Air Service and
was a respected surgeon and faculty member of Johns Hopkins University Hospital.
We designed and implemented a work plan to conform to the requirements in the FRP Region
MATOC including the performance work statement,
and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and all work plans and submittals.
We presented a completed description of the planning, assessment,
and demolition process as applied to the facilities. Other personnel required on-site
included Site Safety and Health Officer and Quality Control Manager.
Every effort was made to ensure abatement, demolition, and site restoration was accomplished
to facilitate the completion of the higher priority structures
before the lower priority structures.
