Perma-Fix has developed a groundbreaking Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS) destruction technology called Perma-FAS, unique in that it is the only solution on the market to chemically destroy PFAS contaminants while creating an organic effluent at temperatures at or below 150 degrees Celsius. This technology operates at a relatively low temperature and pressure reaction compared to incineration or supercritical oxidation.
This water-based process has 99.9999% destruction success on high-concentration liquids. Initial testing on solids, sludges, resins, granulated activated carbon (GAC) indicates excellent reduction.
We have had successful demonstrations on a variety of fluorine-containing compounds, including Freons and Teflon.
Perma-Fix facilities hold unique permits with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and RAD authorizations for PFAS-contaminated media with hazardous, toxic, and radiological contaminants.
Perma-Fix Florida (PFF) in Gainesville, FL is home to the first-generation processing unit for Perma-FAS. With ProcessBarron as a manufacturing partner, we were able to accelerate the design and fabrication of this first system, allowing for performance optimization well into the future.
Perma-Fix is a leader in waste treatment technologies for some of the most complex waste in the world and is adapting existing technologies for analyzing, testing, and treating a variety of PFAS-contaminated waste as part of our corporate commitment to environmental sustainability. This pilot-scale solution is being rapidly applied to waste across our four treatment facilities. Additionally, we are partnered with academic institutions, government clients, and commercial partners to develop a complete on-site application of our technology for field services.
