Perma-Fix's East Tennessee Waste Operations Center (EWOC) is an 8.7-acre site designed to support the management and disposition of low-level radioactive waste (LLW) for both government and commercial clients. Unlike Perma-Fix's
other treatment facilities, EWOC serves as a multi-disciplinary processing center, offering
over 17,000 square feet
of indoor processing space along with three licensed outdoor radioactive material storage
areas.
EWOC's primary objective is to handle the receipt, preparation, packaging, and transportation of LLW to approved final disposal facilities, including landfills and radiological waste repositories.
Strategically located near Oak Ridge and Kingston, TN, EWOC has convenient access to major
interstates, including
I-40, and features 220 feet of rail spur for waste shipments, systems operability testing,
and transloading
operations to approved Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities (TSDFs).
